We're trying to use samba to let our PC's mount view extended pathnames used by clearcase but they show up as empty. If anyone's used samba and Clear Case (by Pure Atria) and gotten it to work I'd love to hear how. thanks, Bill -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- William H. If you just want to see an MVFS exported filesystem (view), samba works for the most part. If the view is large, occasionally filepointers get crossed. In other words, if you edit file.c, you may be looking at a totally differnt file. If you "cleartool endview -server" the view and restart it, everything comes back. Clearcase definitely has a probelm with samba. I have the following setup in my smb.conf file and I can see stuff in my views: [myview] comment = MySystem /view/myview/proj/vob/myproject path = /view/myview/proj/vob/myproject create mask = 0775 writeable = yes read list = @eng, @clearcase write list = @eng, @clearcase All my clearcase users are in the "eng" group and I give the "clearcase" group write access because of the clearcase_albd user needing the permission. Hi, does anybody have any suggestions about options to put on/off when using clearcase on NT clinets with VOBs on samba drives? We're experiencing problems when trying to make a build on NT: it complains it can't find some files, but if we do it again it works fine. Also in the evening we're experiencing less problems. Maybe due to lower network traffic? -- Franky Van Liedekerke, BSC System Support Webmaster Dep.: VA94 Tel.: (32)3/450 3277 Fax : (32)3/450 3558 mailto:liedekef@mcd.alcatel.be
Jeremy, That sounds like a very good idea :-) We're using a HP D390 UNIX server (HP-UX 10.20) with about 100 UNIX clients. We're in the process of migrating the same number of users to NT Clearcase. We're currently using Samba V.2.0.3 with plans to move to V.2.0.5a (if this version works). The Syntax TAS SMB server doesn't work on HP-UX 10.20 only HP-UX 11.x. If you want to use a SMB solution on HP-UX 10.20 then Samba is the only option. If you require any more information please let me know. Hello, Wanted some tips on the samba implementation concepts with ClearCase What can be the possible implementation architecture best suited for ClearCase. The VOBs and Views reside in an unix server with Solaris 8. W2K and NT clients access the VOBs and views through samba. If my mail is not related to this list, please let me know where I can post for answers Thanks in advance for all your tips Best Regards / Gru?e, - mi
