[Rubyinstaller-devel] Update One-Click based on VC6 under works
Hello Everybody, It appears that the plan of releasing the MinGW version to replace the VC6 build one is taking longer than expected. Because of that and OCI been a bit old these days, I''m working on a update planned for beta and candidate releases next week. Just a brief of what this release will include: - Latest Official (GarbageCollect), 1.8.6-p287 - Update SciTE - Updated RubyGems to 1.2.0 (or 1.3.0 if the release is made during the beta to candidate phases). - Updated Gems for SQLite3 and MySQL Possible but not yet done: - Bundle Ruby-PG to use PostgreSQL out of the box. Notes: The version will not be based on 1.8.7 since it contains several changes that do not play nice with wxRuby, FXRuby and gems and utilities with compiled extensions. Using latest 1.8.6 all the security fixes announced will became obsolete (for those that feel unsecure right now). I''ll post this to my blog [1] later today, drop here or there your suggestions or use RubyForge [2]. [Rubyinstaller-devel] Update One-Click based on VC6 under works
> -----Original Message----- > From: rubyinstaller-devel-bounces at rubyforge.org [mailto:rubyinstaller- > devel-bounces at rubyforge.org] On Behalf Of Luis Lavena > Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2008 11:14 > To: RubyInstaller Developers (ML) > Subject: [Rubyinstaller-devel] Update One-Click based on VC6 under > works > > Hello Everybody, > > It appears that the plan of releasing the MinGW version to replace the > VC6 build one is taking longer than expected. >Hi Luis, I can offer some help with this. I use VC6 to build Ruby for my company (for use on XP and Vista), so I have some experience with this. I have noticed that recent 1.8.6 p-series Ruby(s) didn''t pass the built in tests... So I haven''t upgraded past 1.8.6-p114 (which does past all the built in tests). I do have them compiled though. I had similar issues with 1.8.7. I also spent some time getting some of the more obscure addins working with Windows Ruby. Things like gdbm, libiconv, pdcurses, readline, ActiveState tcl/tk and a more up to date OpenSSL Ruby module. If you don''t mind working with a VB6 hack, I''d like to help. My Ruby is limited, I''m a beginner. I am sure I am not up to your level, but if you get me pointed in the right direction.... /allen P5Boy at AIM
