rsync - May 2004 - rsync sudo problem

hello,

I have 2 users, User A and User B.
When running 'rsync' using User A, everything works fine.
When running 'sudo rsync' using User A (sudoers permission are wide
open), I get the following error:
pop_dir /opt/somedir : Permission denied
rsync error: errors selecting input/output files, dirs (code 3) at
flist.c(980)

I think that the pop_dir problem is at the target server, but if sudo
completely changes environment, 
why is this happening ?

It can depend on the command you're running, which you don't mention.
For instance, the user that is being used on the remote server depends
on either the ssh command that rsync runs (which can change the user) or
the user configured into the daemon (if you're connecting to a daemon).
