Redhat secure server - Apr 2003 - Re:DNS bind security question

Hi !
Seems to me that if your IP tables are running on your DNS, you should 
use the FORWARD command instead of INPUT or OUTPUT.
Try an iptables -A FORWARD -p tcp -dport 53 ACCEPT (along with -p udp) 
and see if it fixes things...
