I''m having a problem with ssl_gcache. First off, I''ve found
no
documentation as to what this is, but under the default setup for RHSWS
2.0, it is run on port 12345 of my webserver. If I omit (comment) the
relevant settings for it from my httpd.conf, the server won''t start.
I''ve looked through RedHat''s website, support, mailing-list
archives,
etc, and haven''t found anything yet. So, the first question is: what
is
ssl_gcache, and why hvan''t I found any documentation on it? (note that
ssl_gcache was not part of the RHSWS 1.0...it appeared in 2.0).
Next, we get to what I''m trying to do that ssl_gcache is causing
problems
for me. The method I use for running virtual hosting is to have a
separate instance of httpd (apache) running for each domain. The daemon
runs under that person''s username, binds to one address on the NIC, and
then I have no conflicts with running about 128 or so domains on one
machine (each binding to port 80 of their own IP address..and they each
get their own httpd.conf).
When I try to run RHSWS 2.0, bound to one IP address, it works fine, but
ssl_gcache starts up on port 12345 and answers on ALL IP addresses found
on the NIC. If I try to start up a second instance of RHSWS, it will try
to bind to it''s own IP address, but then dies because ssl_gcache is
''already running''.
Is there a way to get ssl_gcache to bind to only one IP address instaed of
all that are present onthe NIC? Has anyone else seen this, or come up
with a workaround? My only available workaround at this point is run
RHSWS 1.0 binding to separate IP addresses (and it doens''t have the
ssl_gcache ''thingy'').
