You''ll at least need a test certificate before the server will start
properly.

The problem with the startup scripts claiming that the processes are still
running is the fact that they *did* start OK, but httpsd exited
immediately when it didn''t find a certificate.

If you really need to run without a certificate, comment all the SSL stuff
out of httpd.conf and restart.

hello all.
Ive installed redhat secure server on 5.2 and the install seems to have
worked just fine.  This issue is that despite this, it just doesnt seem to
work.  If i do a httpsd status it will list 3 pids that are supposedly in
action, however if I ps aux these pids are not around, and neither are any
httpd processes.  Again, the httpsd will claim that all is up and running,
ive restarted, reloaded, stopped/started with no effect.  The
/var/logs/error_log_ssl just says:
Can''t open SSL server certificate file /etc/httpd/conf/httpsd.crt, nor
/etc/ssl/certs//etc/httpd/con
f/httpsd.crt

I dont yet have a certificate, this is true but I should be able to get to
the default spash page on port 80 right?

Any thoughts?
