Rails spinoffs - Dec 2007 - unescapeHTML working in FF but not IE7

Hi,

I''m trying to add a tick (html entity #10007) dynamically into a
select box option. The following code works ok in FF2 but not IE7. Can
anyone shed any light on this?

myselect.options[myselect.selectedIndex].text
''&#10003;''.unescapeHTML();
</code>

Just work out that this code works in IE7 if the following is removed
from prototype:

if (Prototype.Browser.WebKit || Prototype.Browser.IE)
Object.extend(String.prototype, {
  escapeHTML: function() {
    return
this.replace(/&/g,''&amp;'').replace(/</g,''&lt;'').replace(/>/
g,''&gt;'');
  },
  unescapeHTML: function() {
    return
this.replace(/&amp;/g,''&'').replace(/&lt;/g,''<'').replace(/
&gt;/g,''>'');
  }
});
