Rails spinoffs - Jan 2007 - Suggestion about Prototype

After I read Prototype API and try it some, I love it much.
It''s a powerful javascript framework and really easy to use.
But I feel something has miss in prototype like,

··· Everything put in one file and cannot separate ···
I think prototype may have feature to load other script into
prototype.
Because this will make prototype user can load only needed part.
Another reason, I think script code in prototype will have more than
now.
This will make file more bigger and script more complicated.
Hence, script loader (may be ajax loader) will become needed.
For my opinion, I think it may separate to core script that include
only needed
and other will load when need to use.
If you think this useful, please do before it become too complicated
to do.

··· Prototype is easy to use but not enough ···
Imagine that if you can use prototype by GUI...
I think this will make web developer not only painless, but smile.
Not only this, it will make number of prototype users grow up much
also.
My opinion, this GUI may be plug-ins of other well known application
like,
Eclipse, NetBeans, Visual Studio .NET, Dreamweaver, ...

··· Standard for further implement isn''t specific yet ···
Nowaday I see many ajax, javascript framework using prototype.
But I see many not follow prototype scripting style, they code on
their behavior.
This not effect anything, just not make sense for coder.
Realize that if you want to use script.aculo.us with prototype and
json.
What you need to do... I think you may write a very complicate script
to handle all this.
Another thing, if you need GUI. Standard must specific to understand
other script that follow standard also.
Note: Standard like, how to declare type of parameter, return type,
way to code and extend function, etc.

If you have any opinion about this or you have other opinion, please
share it.

This is only half the truth - Prototype is imho not meant to be used
as a library monolith - because it''s one large file
"installation"
(although it''s not an installation) will be much easier than using
"download assistants" soldering code chunks for you.

Hence the other side of the coin is that you must have understood the
structure of prototype.js. Once you have the structure in mind, it''ll
be easy for you to unhinge those slices you really need, saving your
and your client''s ressources.

AFAIK script.aculo.us offers such a feature, using a rather brute
document.write-approach. It doesn''t take more than two or three lines
of code for this. Another opportunity may be using JSON-encoded
Ajax-Responses.
