Hi, I have a little question about Autocompleter. I didn''t find answer on GoogleGroups. There is, may be, an easy solution ? 1. I have declared an Autocompleter on a given Input Field. 2. During autocompletion, sometimes I return large labels Normally the DIV is sized to the text field but if it is larger: - Under IE6 it is sized to the larger labels - Under FF there is an overflow visible but the DIV is not resized What should I do I want the DIV resize to the larger label under FF ? Here is my CSS: DIV.autocomplete UL{ color: #000000; background-color: #FEFEFE; border: 1px solid #888888; list-style-type : none; margin:0px 0px 0px 1px; padding:0px; } DIV.autocomplete LI{ font: normal 8pt Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; list-style-type:none; display:block; margin: 0px; padding: 2px; cursor:pointer; overflow: hidden; white-space: nowrap; } Best Regards -- Jean-Philippe Encausse Jp [at] encausse.net - http://www.encausse.com - http://www.jalias.com GTalk: jp.encausse [at] gmail.com - SMS: sms [at] jp.encausse.net Mob: +33 6 82 12 56 99 Jalios: +33 1 39 23 92 83 Tel: +33 1 39 18 90 15 Do it Once, Use it Twice ~ Do it Twice, Make It Once --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Spinoffs" group. Re: Autocompleter issue with large labels in FF
Well, If I remove the overflow: hidden, FF will do an overflow visible. Texte will be visible but the DIV will not be resized On 11/15/06, Christophe Porteneuve <tdd-x+CfDp/qHev2eFz/2MeuCQ@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > Hey there, > > Jean-Philippe Encausse a écrit : > > What should I do I want the DIV resize to the larger label under FF ? > > Maybe remove this line: > > > DIV.autocomplete LI{ > > ... > > overflow: hidden; > > ... > > } > > I guess that''s a mandatory first step! > > -- > Christophe Porteneuve aka TDD > tdd-x+CfDp/qHev2eFz/2MeuCQ@public.gmane.org > > > >-- Jean-Philippe Encausse - R&D Jalios SA Jp [at] encausse.net - http://www.encausse.com - http://www.jalias.com GTalk: jp.encausse [at] gmail.com - SMS: sms [at] jp.encausse.net Mob: +33 6 82 12 56 99 Jalios: +33 1 39 23 92 83 Tel: +33 1 39 18 90 15 Do it Once, Use it Twice ~ Do it Twice, Make It Once --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Spinoffs" group. An other little question about AutoCompleter: How can I handle Errors ? For example, If the server doesn''t respond ? Is there a callback onError ? or onFailure ? Hey JP, Jean-Philippe Encausse a écrit :> How can I handle Errors ? For example, If the server doesn''t respond ? > Is there a callback onError ? or onFailure ?script.aculo.us does not forward onXxx callbacks from its options to the internal Ajax.Request. However, you could use global responders, using Ajax.Responders, to handle network errors (onException) or failure-bearing (non-null, non-2xx HTTP response codes) responses. -- Christophe Porteneuve aka TDD tdd-x+CfDp/qHev2eFz/2MeuCQ@public.gmane.org --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails: Spinoffs" group. Re: Autocompleter issue with large labels in FF
Thanks, the Responder works well. About my main problem I try to set: overflow: visible; white-space: nowrap; But FF still didn''t want to resize the LI and UL to the text length. The text is over but LI is not resized. Re: Autocompleter issue with large labels in FF
Yes ! position: absolute on UL solve the problem. It works now on IE and FF. Here is my working CSS: DIV.autocomplete UL{ color: #000000; background-color: #FEFEFE; border: 1px solid #888888; list-style-type : none; margin: 0px 0px 0px 1px; padding:0px; position: absolute; } DIV.autocomplete LI{ font: normal 8pt Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; list-style-type:none; margin: 0px; padding: 2px 4px; line-height: 130%; cursor:pointer; white-space: nowrap; } Thanks, Jp On 11/15/06, Christophe Porteneuve <tdd-x+CfDp/qHev2eFz/2MeuCQ@public.gmane.org> wrote:> > Hey JP, > > Jean-Philippe Encausse a écrit : > > But FF still didn''t want to resize the LI and UL to the text length. > > The text is over but LI is not resized. > > Actually it might be, but if your UL or LI is absolutely positioned for > some reason, the container DIV won''t follow size constraints.
