Rails core - Nov 2008 - Running ActiveRecord unit tests

I''ve been having a lot of trouble getting ActiveRecord unit tests to  
run -
what''s the trick? I''ve got the schema loaded into mysql, but
doing
''rake test_mysql''
gives back a bunch of errors "TypeError: can''t convert nil into  
String". It looks like
the fixtures aren''t being loaded - what to do?
