Are you sure that format is in aggreement with ship.date?

AFAIK aggr is data frame with Group.1 column the ship.date and x column the mean
weight for each ship.date. If you want to further aggregate on month you can use
the same approach with second parameter in aggregate an indication of months. If
you want something else you shall be more specific about your data and intended
result.

Probably easiest way would be if you familiarise yourself with data types and
operations e.g. by reading R-intro.
