New Sun workstation with Solaris 8. installed the gnu
compilers and libraries off the Solaris CD and
compiled R successfully. I don't have a tex
installation or makeinfo (sp?) so the manuals failed
to compile, but otherwise R appears to be working.
Unfortunately the on-line help (text-only) isn't
working. Is this related to the failed manuals?
Example:
>?help
Error in help("help") : No documentation for 'help' in
specified packages and libraries
I attempted to 'make help' per the INSTALL page, but
this led to the following errors:
flow# make help
Can't locate File/Basename.pm in @INC at
/opt/sfw/R/R-1.1.1/bin/build-help line 23.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at

*** Error code 1

Any help/advise for kick starting the help system
would be appreciated.
