A short followup to the recent discussion on RODBC. Brian Ripley was good enough to send me a win32 binary; as he announced he has also made this available on his website. For me (under NT4sp4, R0.90.1) both RODBC.dll binaries worked. I ran into two problems in my initial testing: i) sqlQuery (and related functions) only returned the first row of the result dataframe. This is because my ODBC setup does not report the number of rows in the query result (apparently fairly common). I have adapted sqlgetresults to cope with this and sent the changes to Michael Lapsley and Brian Ripley. If anyone needs this fix in the short term let me know. ii) I could not connect to DSNs defined using the MS SQL Server driver. Other ODBC drivers (MS Access, Mapinfo SQL Server) that I tried worked. Thanks to Michael Lapsley for the package and Brian Ripley for the binary. Even in the current development stage of RODBC I, for one, will find it a useful package.
