It's not you. As Dirk reported in another thread, there are a bunch of macOS leftovers in the released package, which is a problem because some of them get installed. To remove them: $ find . -name '._*' -delete after unpacking. Roland, There is a 'repaired' tarball you could use in the Debian archive as I uploaded the modified sources (taking out the macOS files the GNU tar barks at). It takes a moment for the webpages to update but it should appear in due course on those pages and in the pool/ directories of the mirrors. It is currently at https://incoming.debian.org/debian-buildd/pool/main/r/r-base/r-base_4.5.2.orig.tar.gz but I never remember if the URLs persist or gets redirected once it arrives at https://deb.debian.org/debian/pool/main/r/r-base/r-base_4.5.2.orig.tar.gz Note that that last one is not not live yet but should be "shortly". I also upload to launchpad.net for convenience even though Michael will of course follow in due course with the Ubuntu binaries that will then be mirrored at CRAN. Launchpad is a little quicker at the source is accessible at the URL https://launchpad.net/~edd/+archive/ubuntu/misc/+sourcefiles/r-base/4.5.2-0.2404.1/r-base_4.5.2.orig.tar.gz Hope this helps, Dirk -- dirk.eddelbuettel.com | @eddelbuettel | edd at debian.org
