About a month ago I sent a message to the list about some changes which could allow R to fully utilize the (La)TeX Computer Modern fonts. I didn't get any replies indicating the changes would be accepted in some form, what could be improved in them, or that the changes were not wanted. The patches and other files needed are available from: http://hussle.harvard.edu/~durso/CM_R.tar.gz Even if there is no interest in including full support for CM fonts, it would be very helpful if the "family" option of the postscript driver could be expanded to (optionally) take list of five afm files instead of four. The fifth would be for the symbol afm file. This would then allow me to write a script which could make the remaining changes to an otherwise standard R eps file (after it was written with the standard postscript driver) so it would properly use the CM fonts. I could then distribute this as some sort of package so others who might want to use the CM fonts could also do so.
