DSC 2001 International Workshop on Distributed Statistical Computing http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/Conferences/DSC-2001/ March 15--17, 2001 Vienna, Austria The second international workshop on `Distributed Statistical Computing' (DSC 2001) will take place at the Technische Universität Wien in Vienna, Austria from 2001-03-15 to 2001-03-17. This workshop will deal with future directions in statistical computing, such as event-driven software, graphical user interfaces, large and varied databases, reusable components, high-level object-oriented interfaces, and data exchange using XML. Particular emphasis will be given to the R (http://www.r-project.org) and Omegahat (http://www.omegahat.org) projects. DSC 2001 builds on the spirit and success of DSC 1999, which was seminal to the further development of the R and Omegahat projects. Participants will include Doug Bates University of Wisconsin, Madison Roger Bivand University of Bergen Vince Carey Harvard University John Chambers Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies Peter Dalgaard University of Copenhagen Saikat DebRoy University of Wisconsin, Madison John Eaton University of Wisconson, Madison Robert Gentleman Harvard University Torsten Hothorn Universität Erlangen Kurt Hornik Technische Universität Wien Stefano Iacus Università degli Studi di Milano Ross Ihaka University of Auckland David James Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies Friedrich Leisch Technische Universität Wien Uwe Ligges Universität Dortmund Jim Lindsey University of Limburg Thomas Lumley University of Washington Martin Mächler ETH Zurich Duncan Murdoch University of Western Ontario Paul Murrell University of Auckland Erich Neuwirth Universität Wien Martyn Plummer International Agency for Research on Cancer Brian Ripley University of Oxford Antony Rossini University of Washington Günther Sawitzki Universität Heidelberg David Smith MathSoft Detlef Steuer Universität der Bundeswehr, Hamburg Deborah Swayne AT&T Labs Duncan Temple Lang Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies Luke Tierney University of Minnesota Antony Unwin Universität Augsburg Gregory Warnes Pfizer Global Research & Development Chen Xun Merck Research Laboratories There will be a two-day extension focusing on the future of the R project.
