R devel - Nov 1999 - size of text and numbers in graphs (PR#349)

Hi!

Since installation of R 0.90 there are problems with the size 
of text and numbers also in the x11-device (I reported about similar 
problems with the postscript device recently). For numbers and 
letters a different size is used:

plot(1:10,1:10,type="n")
text(2,8,"F5F5F5F5F5")
text(2,7,"F5F5F5F5F5",cex=2)

The same problem is also found in the postscript device.
The difference is small but clearly visible.

It's not a bug. The fonts are designed that way (capital letters one
pixel taller than numbers in some sizes). Try for instance running
xfontsel with

-*-helvetica-medium-r-*-*-34-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
