The dump discussion reminded me of a problem I reported early but may not have been filed as a bug (or may not have been considered a bug): dput seems to rely on the setting of options()$digits to determine the precision with which things are written, and the default digits does not seem adequate (e.g. time series attributes can get truncated enough to make them invalid). A default for dput of digits=16 would be better.
