src/library/base/R/par still defines par2(.) which is not used anymore .. in the base package. This (undocumented) function had been introduced around 0.49 or so. I'm guessing that its intent is to be used from high-level plotting functions for setting parameters specified by the "..." arguments. Since (at least) 0.61, par2(.) has been eliminated from all the library/base/R/ code. However it IS still used in src/library/mva/R/hclust and ......./mva Ross, Paul, ?? can we decide if this function is needed / useful enough to be part of R ``properly'' (i.e. including documentation), or was it just a convenience kludge that should be eliminated ASAP? -- Martin -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- r-devel mailing list -- Read http://www.ci.tuwien.ac.at/~hornik/R/R-FAQ.html Send "info", "help", or "[un]subscribe" (in the "body", not the subject !)
