[I inadvertantly submitted this just now without a subject line. My apologies for the double posting!] CRAN now contains a new package for numerically solving ordinary differential equations. The package (odesolve_0.5-3) currently provides an interface to the solver "LSODA" written by Linda Petzold and Alan Hindmarsh. LSODA is an adaptive solver, switching between methods appropriate for non-stiff and stiff systems as the problem requires. In this implementation, the system of ODEs are written as an R function. A vector of parameters may be passed to the function, making it relatively easy to use lsoda in functions to be passed to various R optimizers. R.
