qemu discuss - Sep 2006 - some testing :)

Hi all!
So I''m a newbie but I wanted to share my testings since this project
has just opened and I see only 1 thread in the discussions...
I read all the host and guest parts on the webpage, then I downloaded and
installed the qemu tarball and the kqemu part too, then I installed windows 2003
corporate italian with this command:
/opt/SUNWqemu/64/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 -m 256 -vnc 0 -net none -boot d -cdrom
win2k3corpita.iso win2k3.img

worked like a charm :)

then I''m running it with:
/opt/SUNWqemu/64/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 -m 256 -net nic,model=rtl8139 -vnc 0
win2k3.img

I still have to do more tests I''ll perhaps post them in the next days
if I''ll have the time, anyway I''m an entusiast qemu user since
the early days, I''ve used it under linux, openbsd, win32, freebsd and
solaris (all x86 but linux and openbsd also on ppc host)

I compiled/used qemu previously under solaris but I have to say that this
distribution is really useful and the kqemu addition is SO nice :)))

Do expect to see any performance difference b/t AMD 939 and AMD/AM2?

I still have to try, as of now I only had 754 and 939 to try with, but I really
think it doesn''t make a lot of difference as long as you have a lot of
ram, a 754 or a 939 with 2gb will be ever more usable than an am2 with only 512,
and add to this that you will not be able to buy new gear that''s not
amd2... so there''s no real difference :)
