A colleague of mine has pointed out that to post to Google Groups, he must give his mobile phone number to Google to send an SMS or to call him so that he can create a Google account. Are there any alternatives? Thanks. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Thanks.Has he or she tried subscribing through email rather than the web interface? http://support.google.com/groups/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=46606 To subscribe to a group via email, send an email to [Groupname]+ subscribe@googlegroups.com. For example, if you wanted to join a group called puppet-users, you''d send an email to puppet-users+subscribe@googlegroups.com. -Jeff -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Thanks.I thought providing a phone number was optional, or at worst one of several alternatives. Perhaps there has been a change, but I am certain that no telephoning or SMS messaging was involved when I set up this account. Really, it sounds pretty unlikely that telephony would be an essential requirement for setting up an account. Re: [Puppet Users] Re: Google Groups the best place?
It is not... You just need to register your normal email address as google account, with a password (for the google acount, not the real one). No more info is required.
