I apologize in advance if this has already been covered, but I looked around a bit and didn''t find anything obvious. We have multiple DNS domains, and I''m trying to figure out how a puppet client determines it''s own dns domain name. For instance, say we have foo.com and bar.com. Both the client and the server are in foo.com, but every time the client requests a cert, it sends it''s hostname as <hostname>.bar.com instead of <hostname>.foo.com This client is Mac OSX 10.5, and the nis domain is set to bar.com and is listed in /etc/defaultdomain, but I wouldn''t think that the nis domain name should affect what puppet thinks of itself. Any ideas? Claims that I have lost my mind will be well received. :) - Jeremy --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Users" group. Just look at the various ways Facter looks up the hostname and domain name (if the hostname looks fully-qualified, it usually wins). -- Honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, a friend, an acquaintance, or a stranger. -- Franklin P. You can also overwrite the default fqdn from facter by providing --fqdn= in the command line. Facter uses the NIS domain before the DNS domain..
