I''m willing to ship my slides over to whomever is interested. (I give my talk at LCA today, and it should be available for download by the end of the day, I think.) -- Nothing is impossible for the man who doesn''t have to do it himself. -- A. H. This reminds me...the University of California, Riverside is proposing to present server automation and the benefits of the Puppet tool to the greater UC community at an annual UC-wide computing conference in July. If our proposal is accepted by the conference committee and presented at the conference, I suspect that other UC campuses will follow UC Riverside''s lead in deploying Puppet. Regardless as to whether our proposal is accepted, I have been spreading the good word about Puppet to managers at several of the UC campuses. Luke, if you have Puppet related slides that would be appropriate for a mixed audience ranging from Senior IT leaders to mid-level managers to senior technical staff and you are willing to share, then please let me know. We are going to be constrained to around 50 minutes so I was planning to devote about 15 minutes discussing server automation at a high-level (drawing on my extensive, past experience with Opsware and recent experience with Puppet), 10 minutes discussing Puppet, 5 minutes discussing how UCR is using Puppet to solve real problems, and 20 minutes giving a technical demonstration of Puppet''s capabilities in the UCR environment with our LDAP infrastructure (the other campuses will love that capability).
