anyone have 0.23.2-1 puppet and puppet-server rpms for rhel4 & 5?
I just upgraded from 0.23.2-1 on RHEL 4&5 to 0.24.1-1. I used Dlutter''s repository. What a mess I''m in now. Anyway to make a long story short I moved all of the old configs out of the way (/etc/puppet, /var/lib/puppet) and started over with a fresh install. I can''t get puppetd on the server to request a cert. If I do a "puppetd -v --waitforcert 90" the process just backgrounds. From a remote machine I was able to get a cert request/sign but now when I run the remote instance of puppetd I get: [root@nexus puppet]# puppetd --server puppet.example.com -v -o err: Could not create PID file: /var/run/puppet/puppetd.pid I''ve looked at the logs, debug output of server and client, etc. I can''t see anything obvious, at least to me. Anyone know what''s going on here? I''m serious about the 0.23.2-1 version. If someone has the rpms for RHEL 4 & 5, or knows where to get them please let me know. I don''t see them in Dlutter''s repository. Thanks, Kent

Re: anyone have 0.23.2-1 puppet and puppet-server rpmsfor rhel4 & 5?
Behaviour changed in 0.24.1-1 - puppet will always daemonize unless --no-daemonize is specified. puppetd --test --debug is what I use. For the second issue, check permissions on the paths - does the directory exist?; rm -rf /var/run/puppet, recreate it, try launch puppet with --pidfile /tmp/puppet.pid, etc..
