[Pkg-xen-devel] Debian/Xen microsprint, Cambridge (short initial report)
Hi, We had an interesting and productive day yesterday. The main achievement is: xen_4.11.1~pre.20180911.5acdd26fdc+dfsg-1~exp1_multi.changes ACCEPTED into experimental \o/ For whoever wants to try and play around with it, please do! I've just booted it with a Buster dom0 and the Linux 4.18.6-1 package as dom0 kernel. I made a bunch of notes. We managed to discuss all of the things mentioned in the TODO [0], also helped by a group of upstream developers during lunchtime. Ian started working on refactoring debian/rules and everything in that area, since it is very convoluted and hard to change now. The result should be a much better editable and maintanable build procedure for the upstream code. I started to fix the two blockers that caused a previous REJECT for an upload to Debian experimental, and finished the conversion to using git-debrebase. The result is now in the master branch on salsa. We targeted experimental again, because there's work needed on the libraries (and which binary packages they go in) which turns out to have a bunch of missing and incorrect placements and sonames. More about this later. Fixing this will be done as part of, or will be able to happen in an easier way after Ians current work. I still have to process my notes on paper, and when doing so, I'll add all the info to the TODO page [0] first, before deciding how to proceed from there. I'll ping the list when this is done. Thanks, Hans [0] https://salsa.debian.org/xen-team/debian-xen/issues/19 -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... I noticed! Thank you for your work so far and congratulations on this huge milestone! You guys managed to make a ton of progress in a (debian scale) short amount of time.
