This was disscused by IRC some days ago, but let''s bring this to the list. We were/are aiming to release Lenny with the development platform 4.0.X before we knew about Debian and KDE release plans. Finally we have an update from our release team and a schedule for 4.1. I''m sure we''ll even see a kde 4.0.4 (nice version number, isnt? ;)) about april, but what about the possibility of upload instead KDE 4.1 Alpha 1 due to 22nd may? The obvious goal here is release lenny with dev platform 4.1 and given the current Lenny release schedule, this will need be discussed with the Release team: libraries freeze is in the mid of june, and by then hopefully we only will have 4.1 beta2. Of course, I''m assuming here no release delays and that 4.1 will work fine... Well, we could start already working with the 4.1 branch, but that will have us commiting stuff under branches/kde41 and branches/kde4... too much work ... For the people who is following more closely kde 4.1 development, how it is going? Ana

Timing window could be mid of July 2008 just before the Full freeze. It is important highlight here that in April 22nd, 2008 it is Hard Feature Freeze, so after that date kde 4.1 will only have bugfixes.> > Well, we could start already working with the 4.1 branch, but that will have > > us commiting stuff under branches/kde41 and branches/kde4... too much work > > ... > > > > We could use Dirk snapshots and work only on the dev. platform > (kdelibs/kdepimlibs/kdebase-runtime). >Well, if i package that I want use that... that points me to package as well graphics, sdk (kate), kdebase... :)> > For the people who is following more closely kde 4.1 development, how it is > > going? > > > > So far, KDE release team do a good job, 4.0.1, 3.5.9, 4.0.2 will be released > in time.I meant with the question how active is going the development of the branch 4.1 (current trunk), in the sense of reaching the 4.1 release goals. They need Qt4.4, then rewrite plasma API AFAIK. Other points go fine and upstream is active. Maybe we need to follow kdepim module activity closer. Many things to do on this front but they are reactive.

Sooooooooo, anybody thinks this is a bad idead? answer please! :-) Ana
