--nextPart2001758.Us8J8CXyZZ Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Disposition: inline Hello, great work everyone! A happy 3.4 user here... Just a note about point 2 of the FAQ at=20 http://pkg-kde.alioth.debian.org/docs/faq.html: If the user installed the kde=20 metapackage using aptitude, say via "aptitude install kde" or using the=20 curses interface, all the other packages it pulls in will be marked as=20 "automatic". So removing, as in the example given, the kfloppy package,=20 aptitude will also remove kdeutils and kde since they''re dependencies are no=20 longer met, but it will also remove ALL of the other kde packages that were=20 originally brought in to satisfy the kde metapackage since they are marked as=20 auto. So in some cases it won''t be that it only *appears* that kde is being removed=20 since the user doesn''t understand how the kde metapackage works as the FAQ=20 suggests, it may be that all the kde packages actually *are* being removed.=20 You might want to mention this. Yes, you''re completely right. Indeed, I''m a proud aptitude user, but when I=20 wrote this paragraph, I had in mind only apt-get users. I will add a paragraph or two about what happens when aptitude is used here=2E=20 If you have more comments or ideas about the FAQ, please, comment! :) =2D-=20 Alex (a.k.a. suy) - GPG ID 0x0B8B0BC2 http://darkshines.net/ - Jabber ID: suy@bulmalug.net

My point is that for anyone=20 who uses aptitude the FAQ can be quite misleading.
