[Pkg-exim4-users] Home URLs at exim4-doc-html/spec_html/*.html should not point to exim.org
Package: exim4-doc-html Version: 4.77-1 Files: /usr/share/doc/exim4-doc-html/spec_html/*.html Regarding exim4-doc-html/spec_html/*.html: The next and previous URL at each spec_html/*.html file points to an appropriate spec_html file. In contrast, the Home URL at the beginning of each file leads to www.exim.org/index.html. I think that the same reasoning that led to having the next/prevoius point to a spec_html file should be applied to having the Home URL point to spec_html/index.html or filter.html. Will the maintainers consider a patch if I will submit one?

Upstream is better in remembering bug reports when they are reported via their bugzilla though. I mean the page with links to the local spec.html and filter.html. Why have you stopped doing that? Can''t the omission of that page make users not notice filter.html ?

Maybe it was inadvertently. What exactly is missing? Greetings Marc -- ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Marc Haber | "I don''t trust Computers. This may have changed since we did do an awful lot of damage or possibly improvement with the doc/website revamp in 2010 - it also made the generation tools sane, repeatable and relatively fast & compact. I was going to look at putting a per chapter ToC into the footer when I got the chance - it should be relatively easy (although may need a css change too). I suspect its not there currently because we added the pop-out ToC (but that probably fails without javascript support and may have issues working from local filestore). I think debian used to ship a similar file somewhere in /usr/share/doc/exim4-doc-html/.> I was going to look at putting a per chapter ToC into the > footer when I > got the chance - it should be relatively easy (although may > need a css > change too).? I don''t see any pop-out ToC. Is it because I am using various firefox add-ons? On what circumstances do the pop-out ToC pops out? I mean, should it pop out when the mouse is over some word? Does it makes the reader wait a short time until it disappears? Does it constantly occupies valuable screen area? My preference is a per chapter ToC in the footer, and as less javascript as possible.

[Pkg-exim4-users] spec_html/*.html should have a link to TOC: URL for reportimg upstream
I''ve modded the generation scripts to add a TOC link to the bottom of each chapter, and make the title of each chapter a link to the TOC. I can see no open bug for this, so have not linked it to the bug report. This change will be in 4.81 when it is released, which I suspect will be a relatively short turn round. There is a bug report - http://bugs.exim.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1114 - for missing items from the html docs tarballs. This explains the other issues discussed within this thread. I''m currently discussing this with some of the other maintainers. Nigel. -- [ Nigel Metheringham ------------------------------ nigel at dotdot.it ] [ Ellipsis Intangible Technologies ]
