That error message is trying to tell you that you need to set the
pipe_transport in your system_aliases router.
/etc/exim4/conf.d/router/400_exim4-config_system_aliases has plenty of
comments that will help in your situation. While you''re at reading
docs, pay /usr/share/doc/exim4-base/README.Debian.gz a visit. Chances
are that you are using non-split config, so changes in
/etc/exim4/conf.d/router/400_exim4-config_system_aliases won''t help.
Additionally, Debian''s mailman package has a quite verbose HOWTO which
allows you to setup mailman without having to manually handle alias
files.
