Hi, I''ld like to use an OpenSolaris Based Machine as VM-Server (In the same way like using a VMWare Server). Is this realistic and stable? Is XEN already able to export the VMs in VMWares ESX Format? Could you show me the doku? Searching for "xen" on wikis.sun.com only points to older xvm documents. Is there a free Version of the Ops Center? Questions about Questions, hope someone could help me. Thanks allot Henri -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

Re: Is XEN at OpenSolaris ready for productive Use?
> Is there a free Version of the Ops Center?xVM 3.4.2 is supposed to be integrated in OSOL 2010-02 (b132). There were several issues with b130. When b131 will be out, you can give it a try. In meantime there is no Xen 3.4.2 & Libvirt 0.7.X System with stable ( tested enough) kernel to support Dom0 on Linux. Otherwise, solution would be obvious. --- On Tue, 1/5/10, Henri Maddox <Hendri.maddix@googlemail.com> wrote: From: Henri Maddox <Hendri.maddix@googlemail.com> Subject: [xen-discuss] Is XEN at OpenSolaris ready for productive Use? Re: Is XEN at OpenSolaris ready for productive Use?
Actually, i kept in mind OSOL builds mentioned at http://genunix.org/. On the other hand , recently MRJ mentioned that ext4 patch for pygrub would be integrated in b131. There was also another bug fix scheduled for b131 by John Levon. It brought me to idea , that concept of build would be still valid for OpenSolaris ( not SNV) --- On Thu, 1/7/10, James C. I got the announcement at 18:34 UTC 06 Jan; your message was sent less than 12 hours later. ;-? ;-} But I had seen an earlier announcement that b130 had problems fixed in b131, so I am merely confused. -- /*********************************************************************\ ** ** Joe Yao jsdy@tux.org - Joseph S. I think this is another example of confusing SXCE with OpenSolaris. OpenSolaris will continue to exist. SXCE (Solaris eXpress Community Edition?) is the binary "Solaris Nevada" (old packaging) release. My guess is that someone made a *decree* that this would be the LAST SXCE without realizing that the next one was already built. I have heard several such "last SXCE" announcements, and yet they keep churning out, so we''ll see. I don''t think *anyone* knows what will happen to OpenSolaris or Solaris (Express) in the coming months after the big "O" takes over. Technically OpenSolaris can always live on (maybe under another name), since its open source, right? :) On Jan 7, 2010, at 6:39 AM, Joseph S D Yao wrote:> On Thu, Jan 07, 2010 at 04:28:02PM +1000, James C.
