Stuck trying to install a Centos 5.1 DomU under snv_87
I launch virt-install and everything seems to go fine. It boots the Centos ISO and drops me at the language screen. I select the language and then get to the "installation method" menu. At this point, I''m stuck. I was expecting either the "local CDROM" or "Hard Drive" choices to find the original iso somewhere, but that doesn''t seem to be the case. Local CDROM dumps me at "No Driver Found" and "Hard Drive" complains that I "don''t seem to have any hard drives". I had the same issue with the jailtime image. It wants something from which to install, yet I can''t seem to force anything to mount. I tried a couple of different things to try to get that stupid iso mounted somewhere in the DomU, but nothing seems to work. Any suggestions? bash-3.2# uname -a SunOS s0 5.11 snv_87 i86pc i386 i86xpv This is what the session starts off with: bash-3.2# virt-install Would you like a fully virtualized guest (yes or no)? Re: Stuck trying to install a Centos 5.1 DomU under snv_87
Actually, installing any Linux DomU you are supposed to lofiadm Linux ISO image and mount it as NFS shared directory at local or remote host. Virt-install''s --location should be referencing this NFS share to succeed with DomU install, no matter is it SNV or Linux Dom0. This message posted from opensolaris.org

Re: Stuck trying to install a Centos 5.1 DomU under snv_87
Everything was fine up until the virt-install It claims: "Error That directory could not be mounted from the server." Unfortunately, that seems to be its generic error for anything from IP doesn''t exist, mount point doesn''t exist, or universe blew up. I have verified that I can mount the NFS directory from other computers. I''m betting that it is not setting up the networking properly. I have tried both DHCP and manual. DHCP just dumps me back at the original screen. Manual spends a lot of time "determining host name and domain" for no readily apparent reason (it doesn''t give me the option to specify those manually). It appears that the system is trying to use bnx0 in spite of being told to use bnx1. Is this a bug or user error? Any other suggestions for pounding this into submission? bash-3.2# dladm show-link LINK CLASS MTU STATE OVER bnx0 phys 1500 down -- bnx1 phys 1500 up -- vnic2 vnic 1500 unknown bnx0 bash-3.2# svccfg -s xend listprop config application config/dom0-cpus integer 0 config/enable-dump boolean true config/stability astring Unstable config/xend-relocation-address astring 127.0.0.1 config/xend-relocation-hosts-allow astring ^localhost$ config/xend-relocation-server boolean true config/xend-unix-server boolean true config/dom0-min-mem integer 1024 config/default-nic astring bnx1 xenstored dependency xenstored/entities fmri svc:/system/xvm/store xenstored/grouping astring require_all xenstored/restart_on astring restart xenstored/type astring service general framework general/entity_stability astring Unstable general/single_instance boolean true start method start/exec astring "/lib/svc/method/xend %m" start/timeout_seconds count 0 start/type astring method stop method stop/exec astring :kill stop/timeout_seconds count 60 stop/type astring method tm_common_name template tm_common_name/C ustring "Hypervisor Control Daemon" tm_man_xend template tm_man_xend/manpath astring /usr/share/man tm_man_xend/section astring 1M tm_man_xend/title astring xend This message posted from opensolaris.org
