I''m having trouble booting snv_76 under xVM on one of my systems (Tyan 2885). It boots fine on metal, but when booting under xVM it panics with a ''cannot mount root path'' with this call stack: genunix:rootconf+11f() genunix:vfs_mountroot+65() genunix:main+d3() unix:_locore_start+80() The device path shown is the correct devicepath to the rootdisk, it is the same as when booted successfully on metal. Other symptoms are that after the (XEN) startup lines flash by, the screen shifts one character to the left so the banner reads ''unOS ..'' instead of the regular ''SunOS ...''. If I boot under kmdb the system seems hard hung when I try to continue to force a dump after the panic. The reset button is the only way to get out of this state. Any tips on how to debug this? Does it use cadp160 for a driver by chance? Menno,> If I boot under kmdb the system > seems hard hung when I try to continue to force a dump after the panic. > The reset button is the only way to get out of this state. Any tips on > how to debug this?Does set snooping=1 still work, or possibly work in this case? I don''t know if anyone could possibly enlighten us with the full scope of the deadman timer - I''m not sure I have seen it written anywhere, and would be interested (lazy to trawl sources :-( )... Thanks and regards... Sean.

Also, could you give the b75 version a quick try? I don''t see anything in b76 which should cause this, but it should have been working in b75.. I''ll try the b72 - b74 ata drivers tomorrow and file a bug. Menno -- Menno Lageman - Sun Microsystems - http://blogs.sun.com/menno
