You got some of the easier stuff right - for example, the DVD workaround
(Solaris doesn''t suffer from this problem, but AIUI all linux domUs
do).
But it''s actually even easier than what you''re doing - you can
use virt-install
to do the installation, which avoids the need to fiddle with the kernel/ramdisk
settings at all, as long as you''ve mounted the ISO as before
