Hi,
I need help installing Xen on Solaris. I am installing Xen and
OpenSolaris build 44 on a Sun V20Z (AMD64, dual processor, dual core).
When booting Xen and Solaris, after seeing Xen loading printouts, I
ultimately receive the message, "Console login service(s) cannot run".
Then I am put straight into System Maintenance Mode.
I have edited menu.lst multiple times trying console=com1
com1=9600,8n1 or console=ttya or console=text. None have worked. For
some reason, it seems that Solaris is having trouble requesting
services (svcs) from the Xen hypervisor.
Furthermore, non-Xen Solaris will no longer boot properly as it did
before I installed Xen. When booting non-Xen Solaris, I receive the
same error again, "Console login service(s) cannot run", and I am put
into System Maintenance Mode.
Thus, it seems to me that the configuration problem is not necessarily
with Xen but rather Solaris. Any suggestions? Below is the last part
of the Xen printouts before requesting System Maintenance Mode:
(XEN) ioapic_guest_write: old_entry=0000a9a0, new_entry=0001a9a0
(XEN) ioapic_guest_write: Attempt to modify IO-APIC pin for in-use IRQ!

For menu.lst, I only added what the Xen instructions specified:
title Solaris on Xen 64-bit
kernel /boot/amd64/xen.gz dom0_mem=524288 console=com1 com1=9600,8n1
module /platform/i86xen/kernel/amd64/unix /platform/i86xen/kernel/amd64/unix -k
module /platform/i86pc/boot_archive
As I said earlier, I did try various console options, but none worked.
I would appreciate any help, and hear if anybody is having similar
problems.
Sincerely,
