Hi ,
what is the minimal necessarry install cluster for using Xen? Normally I
install the SUNWCXall Cluster but hopefully I don''t need all these
packages for Xen.

Hi,

and then the
following packages:

Tried to build a Solaris 10 DomU with only these packages today and it
worked.
But I had to install two additional packages before I could install the
Xen bfu:
bash-3.00# pkginfo | grep bind
system SUNWbind BIND DNS Name server and tools
system SUNWbindr BIND Name server Manifest
Without these two packages bfu complained that an outdated BIND 8 is
installed and aborted ...
While creating the DomU I discovered that the flar archive used to build
the DomU has to be created *without* the -S switch
(-S = skip the disk space check and do not write archive size data to
the archive)
Creating the flar archive with -S (as I normally do) leads to the error
message:
ERROR: Unable to process archive file /export/Sol10_snv43_core_xen.flar.
vbdcfg: Warning: Failed to extract archive
/export/Sol10_snv43_core_xen.flar into /export/xc/proto/filep roto/vmnt
Looks like vbdcfg needs the size information in the flar image. That
makes sense.
I suggest to add this info to the documentation.
Another minor bug:
On the Webpage
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/xen/How-To-07-2006/Solaris-domU/
is a little typo:
The paragraph
------------
Example: Creating file-backed domUs
$ vbdcfg mkdomU -f -e aa:04:03:35:a8:44 myproto mydomU
------------
should be
------------
Example: Creating file-backed domUs
$ vbdcfg mkdomU -f -e aa:04:03:35:a8:44 fileproto mydomU
------------
because the command to create the prototype above is
------------
vbdcfg mkproto -f -a /sys.flar fileproto
------------
regards
Bernd
