Hi, does anybody have a list of working Linux Live CDs with Xen Support which I can use in a Xen Domain? What I''m looking for is more or less something like Knoppix with Xen Support so that I can use the yet-not-supported hardware of my Ferrari 4005 in the Linux Domain regards Bernd This message posted from opensolaris.org

If you''re running Xen and a Solaris dom0 then a Linux guest domain will not have (direct) access to any hardware. dme.

Hi, I downloaded your CD - can I use the ISO image without changes to boot it in a Xen DomainU? If yes, how is the config file for booting the ISO image? If not, which filesystem do you use on the CDROM? Plain hsfs or this new compressed filesystem for CDROMs (like on the Xen demo CDROMs)? TIA Bernd This message posted from opensolaris.org

David,> Bernd, I don''t understand what you''re asking. Which CD image? The ISO Image of the Xenoppix CD. But the question applys to other Live CDs as well, how is the syntax for the Xen config file to boot directly from an ISO image? regards Bernd -------- Original-Nachricht -------- Datum: Thu, 27 Jul 2006 06:54:56 +0100 Von: David Edmondson <dme@sun.com> An: Bernd Schemmer <Bernd.Schemmer@gmx.de> Betreff: Re: [xen-discuss] Re: Linux Live CDs with Xen Support> > On 26 Jul 2006, at 10:05pm, Bernd Schemmer wrote: > > I downloaded your CD - can I use the ISO image without changes to > > boot it in a Xen DomainU? In general, booting of non-Solaris domU kernels from within their own filesystem (for example, an ext2fs partition on a disk) doesn''t work [1], as we have no tools to read the filesystem and find the relevant binaries. ''pygrub'' is one solution to this, but it is not ported to Solaris yet. dme. [1] tip of the hat to Bill.
