[xen-discuss] Please consider releasing the Xen 2.0.x code.
While Xen 3.0 is a big step forward for Xen in the large enterprise, it currently lacks some of the features that 2.0.x had for paravirtualised non VT environments. As you have the code please consider making it available. This message posted from opensolaris.org

I don''t believe that this was ever attempted with our 2.0 port and would probably require further work on our part. dme. -- David Edmondson, Solaris Engineering, Sun Microsystems.

Device access and working DomUs besides 2.6 Linux kernels. There may be others but those two have been enough to stop me doing anything beyond hw compatibility testing for 3.0. -----Original Message----- * geoff.buckingham at reuters.com [20051221T112726]:> While Xen 3.0 is a big step forward for Xen in the large enterprise, > it currently lacks some of the features that 2.0.x had for > paravirtualised non VT environments. [xen-discuss] Re: Please consider releasing the Xen 2.0.x code.
I hope You don''t mind me jumping in here, but I''m very happy to see a current reply on a request for opensolaris/Xen being released. I''m not sure if You''re aware, but there is a high number of Xen users that would like to have at least a chance of trying out the current state of Your work, in my personal environment like 100% of the xen users are just waiting for any opensolaris domU to play with. of course hardware access would be nice for consolidating backup- or fileservers, but it would mean no harm to try it out as a regular domU as long as that functionality is not yet there. I myself would like to do some more work for NetBSD''s pkgsrc on opensolaris, but after my last power bill definitely won''t have a second system running for that; effectively this means I can''t do anything until there is a xen domU available, and it''s hard knowing that all that''d be needed for my purposes is already there but simply not yet released. Of course at some point in the future I''ll love running my dom0 on Solaris10 or opensolaris and thus trusting it to a ''real'' operating system, but this is not a top priority, I''d rather move forward with the things at hand. Regards and thank You for giving feedback! Florian This message posted from opensolaris.org
