Hi everyone. I'm trying to configure Oracle 10g RAC o PCs cluster. I have some problems while install and configure of OCFS2. Here is information: On ds1 node: [root@ds1 /]# /etc/init.d/o2cb status Module "configfs": Loaded Filesystem "configfs": Mounted Module "ocfs2_nodemanager": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlm": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlmfs": Loaded Filesystem "ocfs2_dlmfs": Mounted Checking cluster ocfs2: Online Checking heartbeat: Active [root@ds1 /]# mounted.ocfs2 -f Device FS Nodes /dev/hda5 ocfs2 ds1 [root@ds1 /]# On ds2 node: [root@ds2 /]# /etc/init.d/o2cb status Module "configfs": Loaded Filesystem "configfs": Mounted Module "ocfs2_nodemanager": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlm": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlmfs": Loaded Filesystem "ocfs2_dlmfs": Mounted Checking cluster ocfs2: Online Checking heartbeat: Not Active I have done the configure using ocfs2console with my two cluster nodes. But I think that ds2-node could not mount on shared parition on ds1 node. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance. regards, sorapak (New user) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Hello, are you sure that /dev/hda5 is a shared Disk which is physically connected to both nodes? You can't use ocfs2 to share a partition which is only connected to a single node. You need a iSCSI / Firewire / Dual-Port SCSI / FC solution, or at least a networ exorted block device to use ocfs2. Thanks Eckenfels and everyone. I try to install Oracel 10g on Linux x86 using document named "Install Oracle 10g Release 2 on LInux x86". I found problems in "Part III: Prepare the shared Disks". Instead of using a whole disk, I use a free partition. Would it cause this problems? here are the new results after I have configured serveral times: On ds1 node: [root@ds1 /]# /etc/init.d/o2cb status Module "configfs": Loaded Filesystem "configfs": Mounted Module "ocfs2_nodemanager": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlm": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlmfs": Loaded Filesystem "ocfs2_dlmfs": Mounted Checking cluster ocfs2: Online Checking heartbeat: Active [root@ds1 /]# [root@ds1 /]# mounted.ocfs2 -f Device FS Nodes /dev/hda5 ocfs2 ds1 [root@ds1 /]# On ds2 node: [root@ds2 u03]# /etc/init.d/o2cb status Module "configfs": Loaded Filesystem "configfs": Mounted Module "ocfs2_nodemanager": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlm": Loaded Module "ocfs2_dlmfs": Loaded Filesystem "ocfs2_dlmfs": Mounted Checking cluster ocfs2: Online Checking heartbeat: Active [root@ds2 u03]# [root@ds2 /]# mounted.ocfs2 -f Device FS Nodes /dev/hda5 ocfs2 ds2 [root@ds2 ]# mount | grep /u03 /dev/hda5 on /u03 type ocfs2 (rw,_netdev) I have followed installation's step from document. On ds1-node is looking fine except result from "mounted.ocfs2 -f" command. But on ds2-node looks straight. ds2-node can possibly mount on shared partition on ds1-node because ds2-node does not have /dev/hda5 on its own. I tested by create a file Node1 on /u03 of ds1.node. But ds2-node cannot see that file. On ds1: [root@ds1 /]# ls -la /u03 total 24 drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 4096 Aug 3 10:44 . drwxr-xr-x 27 root root 4096 Aug 3 09:50 .. drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Aug 1 20:47 lost+found -rwxr-xr-x 1 oracle oinstall 0 Aug 3 10:44 Node1 drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Aug 1 20:50 oracrs drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Aug 1 20:50 oradata [root@ds1 /]# On ds2: [root@ds2 u03]# ls -l /u03 total 12 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Aug 4 10:50 lost+found drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Aug 4 10:51 oracrs drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Aug 4 10:52 oradata [root@ds2 u03]# appreciate for your comments. sorapak pukdesree -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Yes. my disk is an IDE. Would it cause the problems? Thanks Sorapak -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://oss.oracle.com/pipermail/ocfs2-users/attachments/20060804/36a748d2/attachment.html
ocfs2 requires a shared disk. As in, all nodes must be able to concurrently read/write to the device. sorapak Last wrote:> Yes. my disk is an IDE. Thanks everyone. I misunderstood between cluster file system and network file system as Bernd wrote to me. Thanks Bernd. I do not have SAN or NAS. I probably try another way such as NFS or pvfs2. Does anyone try some other ways to build shared disk that is not SAN or NAS. how are their performances comparing with OCFS2? Thanks in advance for everyone in this community. You can try iSCSI target software and then build ASM or OCFSv2 over it. iSCSI target is supported , for example, in SLES10. (But I never tried it there) ----- Original Message ----- From: sorapak Last To: ocfs2-users@oss.oracle.com Sent: Friday, August 04, 2006 6:09 PM Subject: [Ocfs2-users] Re: Problems with OCFS2 and Oracle 10g Thanks everyone.
