[Nut-upsuser] MGE Evolution mge-utalk Driver Not Connected error
Hi All, I have an mge pulsar esv 14+ rackmount UPS connected via straight through serial cable to a USB to serial adaptor (My motherboard does not have a native RS232 port). I am running Ubuntu Server 9.04 x64, and nut 2.4.1-2ubuntu4 installed via APT. I am getting the error: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected My conf files: (ups.conf) [ups1] driver=mge-utalk port=/dev/ttyUSB0 (upsd.conf) ACL all 0.0.0.0/0 ACL localhost 127.0.0.1/32 ACCEPT localhost REJECT all (upsd.users) [monuser] allowfrom = localhost password = pass upsmon master (upsmon.conf) MONITOR ups1 at localhost 1 monuser pass master SHUTDOWNCMD "/sbin/shutdown -h +0" Here is my syslog output: Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: /etc/nut/upsd.conf is world readable Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: ACL in upsd.conf is no longer supported - switch to LISTEN Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: ACCEPT in upsd.conf is no longer supported - switch to LISTEN Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: listening on 127.0.0.1 port 3493 Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: listening on ::1 port 3493 Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: Can't connect to UPS [ups1] (mge-utalk-ups1): Permission denied Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: /etc/nut/upsd.users is world readable Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6343]: allowfrom in upsd.users is no longer used Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6344]: Startup successful Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsmon[6346]: Startup successful Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsd[6344]: User monuser@::1 logged into UPS [ups1] Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:24:42 server upsmon[6348]: Communications with UPS ups1 at localhost lost Aug 2 11:24:47 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:24:47 server upsmon[6348]: UPS ups1 at localhost is unavailable Aug 2 11:24:52 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:25:27 server last message repeated 7 times Aug 2 11:26:32 server last message repeated 13 times Aug 2 11:26:37 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:26:41 server mge-utalk[7803]: updateinfo: Cannot update system status Aug 2 11:26:42 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:27:17 server last message repeated 7 times Aug 2 11:28:17 server last message repeated 12 times Aug 2 11:29:02 server last message repeated 9 times Aug 2 11:29:05 server mge-utalk[7803]: updateinfo: Cannot update system status Aug 2 11:29:07 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:29:37 server last message repeated 6 times Aug 2 11:29:41 server upsd[6344]: Can't connect to UPS [ups1] (mge-utalk-ups1): Permission denied Aug 2 11:29:42 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:29:52 server last message repeated 2 times Aug 2 11:29:52 server upsmon[6348]: UPS ups1 at localhost is unavailable Aug 2 11:29:57 server upsmon[6348]: Poll UPS [ups1 at localhost] failed - Driver not connected Aug 2 11:29:57 server upsd[6344]: mainloop: Interrupted system call Aug 2 11:29:57 server upsd[6344]: Signal 15: exiting Aug 2 11:29:57 server upsmon[6348]: Signal 15: exiting Aug 2 11:29:57 server upsmon[6346]: upsmon parent: read I am fairly sure the USB to serial adaptor is working correctly according to dmesg: [ 8.939008] USB Serial support registered for generic [ 8.939032] usbserial: USB Serial Driver core [ 8.948625] USB Serial support registered for pl2303 [ 8.960655] usb 8-2: pl2303 converter now attached to ttyUSB0 [ 8.960675] pl2303: Prolific PL2303 USB to serial adaptor driver When I run: sudo /lib/nut/mge-utalk -DDD -a ups1 I get: Network UPS Tools - MGE UPS SYSTEMS/U-Talk driver 0.89 (2.4.1) debug level is '3' initinfo: 'Si 1' unavailable, switching to 'Si' command Syst Stat >< Batt Stat >< Load Stat >< Bypass Stat >< ... etc Any help would be greatly appreciated. [Nut-upsuser] MGE Evolution mge-utalk Driver Not Connected error
Hi Phil, 2009/8/2 Phil Harrison <philhar88 at gmail.com>> Hi All, > > I have an mge pulsar esv 14+ rackmount UPS connected via straight > through serial cable to a USB to serial adaptor (My motherboard does > not have a native RS232 port). > > I am running Ubuntu Server 9.04 x64, and nut 2.4.1-2ubuntu4 installed via > APT. >I really need to update the compat list: older Evolution units, at MGE UPS SYTEMS time, where called Pulsar Evolution and where compatible with both SHUT and the venerable UTalk. Nowadays (MGE Office Protection Systems and now Eaton), these are called Evolution and are SHUT only. so, go the mge-shut or ubshid-ups way. cheers, Arnaud -- Linux / Unix Expert R&D - Eaton - http://www.eaton.com/mgeops Network UPS Tools (NUT) Project Leader - http://www.networkupstools.org/ Debian Developer - http://www.debian.org Free Software Developer - http://arnaud.quette.free.fr/ -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
