Hello Eric, Just to clarify: you want the HCL entry at https://github.com/networkupstools/nut/blob/3ae6b50/data/driver.list.in#L231 to say just "Models with USB", right? The mention of ID appeared as part of work on https://alioth-lists.debian.net/pipermail/nut-upsdev/2024-February/007966.html but I can see how it is not typical for the HCL entries to mention those details directly. Confusion might come from part of that request that said "...power device which has unregistered VID/PID", and per cursory internet search, it is indeed "unregistered" (VID is ST Microelectronics from probably the communications chip, PID is not known to various databases). In any case, NUT drivers are built with the VID:PID pairs they are known to support out of the box, and do not try handling unknown devices. So just in case your future products would identify differently, their IDs may have to be added into the drivers. Since recent NUT v2.8.2 it is however possible to request a specific `subdriver` for `usbhid-ups` driver with explicit `vendorid` and `productid` settings that are not compiled into the driver, so that may help in the field too.
