It would probably work well enough to get some debug output from the usbhid-ups
driver, if it doesn't work out of the box.
I'm basing this off of the user manual linked from what seems to be the
appropriate product page:
https://www.apc.com/shop/tt/en/products/APC-Back-UPS-600VA-120V-1-USB-charging-port-7-NEMA-outlets-2-surge-/P-BE600M1
"Note: PowerChute is only compatible with a Windows operating system. If
you are using Mac OSX, use the native shutdown feature to protect your system.
See the documentation provided with your computer."
What the OS X comment implies is that the UPS is compatible with USB HID PDC
(Power Device Class), which both macOS and NUT usbhid-ups implement. However,
this doesn't guarantee full NUT compatibility, and it doesn't indicate
which readings you would be able to get with NUT (versus PowerChute, which
apparently uses another protocol on top of USB HID).
TL;DR make sure the UPS comes with a good return policy.
