<p>Hello,<br>
</p>
<p>As I reported in <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100760">this</a>
bug, the Nouveau ZaphodHeads option (separate X-displays for the
two heads of a single GPU) stopped working on my GeForce 7600 GT
(NV4B/G73) when I upgraded from Fedora 23 to 25. I'm really keen
on getting it back, because it's been painful losing the
independent sets of virtual desktops, plus other annoyances I'm
now getting on XRandR.</p>
<p>But before I dive into harder options such as bisecting an X
downgrade to find the problem, or implementing an independent
virtual desktop option in the MATE window manager, I'd be
interested to find out whether there's anyone with a newer card
(NVidia or AMD) who's successfully using Zaphod on the latest
software. If so, I'll buy myself a new card.</p>
<p>I was forced onto Nouveau when the proprietary Nvidia driver
stopped supporting my card on the latest X. The "<a
moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/173.14.12/README/chapter-15.html">Multiple
X Screens</a>" mode of this driver is equivalent to
ZaphodHeads.
The former may not be deprecated like the latter. So a new card
and the proprietary driver might give me ongoing reliable
separate-X-display support.</p>
<p>Thanks.</p>
<p>Mark</p>
