[Masterview-users] Correction on Tidy install for win32 users - Re: Problems with Masterview and Tidy
Robin and Win32 MasterView users,
There is an error in the MasterView documentation for enabling tidy for windows.
The documentation says for windows to point the tidypath to the
windows exe, however it turns out that doing this gives the same error
that Robin identified. You must instead point it to the tidy DLL,
which can be installed separately from the exe it is available from
http://dev.int64.org/tidy.html (the standard binary download tidy).
You will need the tidy.dll.zip not the tidy.exe.zip.
Extract this to a directory and then update your
config/masterview/settings.rb to point to
this dll like so
config.tidy_path = ''c:/tidy/bin/tidy.dll'' # Win32
Also you would need to enable tidy parser option (also in that settings file)
config.default_parser_options = { :tidy => true, :escape_erb => true }
or
config.default_parser_options[:tidy] = true
Now Tidy should work as advertised, cleaning up invalid xhtml (like
that generated from NVU).
I apologize for the improper information, this was something I hadn''t
tested on windows since I do most of my work on linux. I will try to
make sure to test more on windows going forward. We will correct the
documentation for the next build. I apologize for the problems it
caused any of you.
