Markdown Discuss - Jun 2007 - relationship between Markdown.pl and Text::Markdown

Hi,

I wonder what the relationship is between Markdown 1.0.1 from the web
site http://daringfireball.net/ and the CPAN module Text::Markdown 1.0.3
by Sebastian Riedel.

Obviously, the latter is based on the former but with some
additions/ommissions, like different Package name (Markdown vs
Text::Markdown), some object interface additions, different perldoc
output, ...

Is Text::Markdown a fork from Markdown or is it the new development
model? Will those two packages be developed independently?
