Mapstraction - Sep 2012 - New to mapping and mapstraction and need suggestions on alternating/changing collection of markers

I''m new to mapping and mapstraction.  I''ve been given the
follow
assignment and wanted suggestions on which features of mapstraction are 
useful.  Thanks in advanced.

I would like to have named collection of markers, clicking/selecting a 
name causes that collection of markers to be added on to the map, while 
causing another previously clicked/selected/default collection to be 
removed.  Each named collection should be available as a button/tab 
and/or in a select list.

I''m about to rewrite the code to make it compatible with doctype!, but
this is probably similar to what you are saying.
