How easy would it be to upgrade from 1.8.6 to 2.1? Would simply dropping in the new packages be enough? Would it require downtime of the whole system? Also could I have the servers move to 2.1 while still having the clients at 1.8.6? -- Personally, I liked the university. They gave us money and facilities, we didn''t have to produce anything! We have an old legacy system which has 1.6.5 which is currently connecting to a 1.8.6 server. Will a 2.1 server still talk to something that old? Will a 2.1 server still talk to something that old?No that won''t work. 1.8 clients have added code to handle the protocol changes with 2.x servers. There were a number of bug fixes related to corner cases in protocol interoperability, so it is recommended to use at least 1.8.5 clients, but 1.8.6 is better. At least we now know that we''re stuck with 1.8 until the old system goes away. Brett
