im using rocks 5.3 with lustre 1.8.2 is it possible to mount an ost on a diferent file server so that i can take the file server down and work on it. if so what are the steps to do this. [Lustre-discuss] mounting an ost on a different server
The easy way would have been to configure the devices for failover when you did the mkfs: that would have set up the nodes to know where else to look if the primary server was down (just "mount" the devices on the secondary server and it all ''just works''). Setting up a failover server now, you would have to run a bunch of tunefs commands to add the failover parameters, and remount Lustre on all the nodes (servers and clients). Alternatively, you can have the temporary fileserver assume the name and IP addresses of the server you are taking off line -- so Lustre never "knows" the server was replaced (will look like it was rebooted).
