Hello again,
The problem has gone after I run the "lfs quotacheck -ug /RS" command.
This
is interesting though... Seems like the file usage statistics are not
updated automatically. But it''s my solution for this problem: turning
of
quota and then running quotacheck... Does anybody have an idea about this.
Cheers,
Ender

Subject: quota update problem

Hello there,
We have a disk usage update problem. You can find our software related info
below. Here is my problem description: We enabled disk qoutas on our lustre
file system. But not using quota, just for checking users'' lustre disk
usage. It''s a quicker way to getting disk usage than using traditional
du
command. But we have a problem now: Users''s disk usage not decrease
when
they deleted files. Here are the command outputs of du and lfs quota
commands for one of our users:
[root at d001 ~]# lfs quota -u guryel /RS
Disk quotas for user guryel (uid xxx):
Filesystem kbytes quota limit grace files quota limit
grace
/RS 1564665872 0 0 183 0 0
[1564665872 kbytes ~ 1.47 Tbytes]
[root at d001 ~]# du -smh /RS/users/guryel/
22M /RS/users/guryel/
Here are our lustre, os and interconnect info:
Lustre Version: 1.6.5.1
OS: RHEL 5.1
Clients are connected to servers via infiniband network.
I saw some bug tickets on bugzilla. But bugs are related to older version of
lustre (1.6.3). So are there anyway to recover that usable space without any
upgrade or filesystem down time? What kind of additional info is needed to
solve this problem? Thanks in advance.
