[Lustre-discuss] Vanilla 2.6.27.31 + Lustre server 1.8.1?
Is it safe to use the SLES11 Lustre patches on the 2.6.27.31 vanilla kernel source tree? I tried using quilt to patch the vanilla kernel and the only patch that seem to fail is md-raid5 and I don''t need md-raid5 support on my Lustre servers. Thanks Nirmal

That said, upstream distros change their kernels much less from mainline than they used to, so it isn''t likely to break completely. Note that the "raid5" patch is also applicable to "raid6" (they share the the same code). This is for MD software RAID only. [Lustre-discuss] Vanilla 2.6.27.31 + Lustre server 1.8.1?
I didn''t add any of those patches. I was just trying to build the official 1.8.1 release with 2.6.27.31. I was able to build the 2.6.7.31 kernel without any problem even though the patches for md-raid5 patches failed. However, I was not able to build Lustre against the above kernel. There was no errors in the configure step but for the warning about quota will not work on OSTs > 4TB. When I tried to ''make'' it failed really quickly at the point where it was trying to apply ext4 patches. RHEL5 patches for ext4 are much closer but do not match either. -- Luk?? Hejtm?nek
